There are many chances that a skunk may get in your house and in places such as kitchen, bedroom, living room, attic or bathroom. This happens only when the doors or windows of all these places are left open. Moreover, if there are some narrow openings, skunks may get in the house from there as well. Skunks will only enter into your house, when there are no human activities carried out.
Firstly, the skunk will enter into the outside premises of your house that is the yard, lawn or garage. If there is no place to hide, only then the skunk will look for other ways which can be of entering into the inner house. But before moving inside the house, the skunk will look for hiding place under the shed, porch or in some wooden piles.
Attractions for skunks inside the home
- Within the home, if you have some pet food for pets, the skunks will get attracted towards it and will try to enter into the house. If you feed the pet out in the lawn or garage, even then skunks will smell the food and try to come near to the pet and harm it. So always make sure to keep your pet and its food in the home.
- The skunks can also enter the house, if there are some fruits fallen from the trees. All sort of readily available items to eat are good attractions for the skunks.
- Skunks may hide in some broken roofs or ceilings. This will always happen when they do not find any place to hide in.
Protective measures:
While trying to catch skunks, make sure you are wearing protective clothes which include the gloves as well. Prefer to wear a face mask too. Use the body grabbing tool for the skunk but stay quite far away from the animal. Open all the doors or windows and hide somewhere, so that skunks can freely move around the house and go out of that specific area which can be your bedroom, bathroom or kitchen.
